Luis Alberto Suárez Diaz was born in the Uruguayan city of Salto in January 1987. His family moved to Montevideo when he was seven. After several years of graft he broke into the first team of local side Nacional, and then earned the right to take his chance in Dutch football - first with Groningen and then with giants Ajax, where he amassed a century of goals for the club and was named Footballer of the Year in 2010.In January 2011, Liverpool paid £22.8m to take Suárez to Anfield, making him the club's most expensive signing at the time. Suárez scored on his debut in front of the Kop, and then proceeded to write himself into Merseyside folklore, scoring 82 goals in just 133 appearances. He finished the 2013-14 season with 31 League goals from 33 matches, in the process sharing Europe's Golden Shoe with Cristiano Ronaldo, and being named Footballer of the Year by the FWA and Players' Player of the Year by the PFA.On 11 July 2014, Barcelona announced that they had signed Suárez. In his first season at the Nou Camp he helped Barca to La Liga and Copa del Rey titles, scoring 16 goals in 27 games.At international level, he is Uruguay's all-time record goal-scorer, and in 2011 he fired his country to victory in the Copa America.Suárez is married with two children.

Luis erzählt seine Lebensgeschichte sehr ehrlich und man merkt wie ihm seine persönlichen "Fehlgriffe" / Konfrontationen nachgehen.Seine starkes Temperament und Übereifer für den Erfolg auf dem Platz reissen ihn im extremsten Moment zu einer unnachvollziehbaren Handlung (3x Beissattacke) hin, die er überaus betroffen immer wieder bereut.Aufgrund seiner vielen Vorgeschichten macht er sich vor allem während seiner Zeit in Liverpool einen sehr schlechten Namen in der englischen Presse. Dadurch wird er auch in die Geschichte mit Patrice Evra von ManU hineingezogen, der ihn von schärfstem Rassismus beschuldigt.Es prasselt so richtig auf Luis ein... kaum hat er eine Ohrfeige eingefangen, da schlägt's schon wieder bei ihm ein...Er ist nun IMMER der Schuldige und stets im Rampenlicht....... er will von England weg.. muss sich aber noch gedulden....bis dann endlich die Erlösung aus Spanien kommt.. der FC Barcelona !!!Wenn man das Buch gelesen hat, dann hat man wirklich das Gefühl, dass man Luis Suárez als Mensch ein bisschen besser kennt....empfehlenswert für jeden Fussbalfan...
Fascinating to see the person behind the player, and to read what goes on behind the scenes in football. Four stars instead of five, because I would have liked it to be a bit longer and go into more details.
This is certainly an okay book if you're looking to get a good surface look at the man himself. Whether you like him as a player or not, this will give you a good glimpse of how Luis came to be. There was not much of an excitement level to the book. Overall, I was left with a pretty bland feeling after I finished it. One read through is good enough.
Good read. You get a feeling for what goes on inside Luis head. Without the intensity, you won't get the player. I think if Luis is ever in a situation where he must win but does not look like he will, his frustration will boil over and another biting incident will occur.
It is great and you get to know what is happening on the other side. Being a soccer player is not easy and when Luis Suarez is know as the biter it can't be a good thing. And his story reminds us that they are human and give us empathy.
Really enjoyed the book. Phenomenal read that places the reader in Lucho's shoes. Through the book we understand his roots, ambition, and intentions. Definitely adds another dimension to a figure that is often cast in a bad light. The book reads like a novel, or like a modern day "telenovela."

This book does a lot to answer that question.If you only know the headlines about Suarez, it's easy to write him off as yet another spoiled bad-boy athlete whose behavior is tolerated because of his talent. But if you look just a little bit deeper, it's obvious that isn't the whole story. This is a person who has overcome obstacle after obstacle to get where he is today, not just in terms of his career, but also in his personal life.The chapter where he talks about his wife and what he went through to be with her is touching.
